Elk Forest Civic Association Minutes -  August 2004

The annual meeting of the Elk Forest Civic Association was held at the home of President Rich Sernyak, August 8th, 2004. President Sernyak called the meeting to order. After introductions of the officers as well as those in attendance, SecretaryTim Poludniak read the minutes of the last meeting. They were approved as read.

Rich Sernyak presented the treasurer's report. The report indicated that we have in our treasury, $31,603.00. Year 2003 dispersements, totaling $3700, were used for mosquito spraying, annual party, stamps, and the Elk Forest sign restoration while the current receipts total $2505 which include both annual dues and interest.

BUSINESS:
Mosquito Spraying: Mosquito spraying was reported, by residents, as being effective. One thing to
note: APM may not spray around a home if the doors or windows are noticed to be open and therefore
residents should be sure to close doors and windows on the night or time when the spraying is scheduled to occur.

Waterways committee, No recent correspondence regarding dredging as the Army Corp. currently is facing financial issues

Historical committee, No Update

Other Business Items Raised: John Poole raised the following items:

  • Postal Delivery - there have been recent problems with getting the correct mail in the correct mailboxes. If you are having this problem, please send feedback to the postal service so that the problem can be corrected.
  • Toxicity Levels in the Waterways - an article on this issue is now posted on the website and residents are encouraged to read up on this.
  • Two proposed sub-divisions - there are 2 sub-divisions being planed or have been submitted to the Planning Board. Both are located along Elk Forest Rd. One of the proposed site layouts is posted on the website and can be downloaded.
  • Centralizing Historic Information - John suggested that we keep our community "historic" file in a central location (Tom Cole may currently have this file).
  • Traffic/Accessibility - community should get together with the Division of Transportation to discuss roadway accessibility and evacuation plans in the case of an emergency. Should there be an alternate way to get out of Welsh Point? Does Deerhaven community have a civic association that we should coordinate this with?

Nominating committee,

Gene Monaco presented the current slate of officers:

President - Tom Cole

Vice President - Sandy Cope

Secretary - Tim Poludniak

Treasurer - Len Edwards

Board Members - Rich Sernyak, Harry Roberts, Gene Monaco, John Poole, and Peter

Check the Elk Forest web site fOT updates from committees. Thanks to Poole's for the work they put in to maintain and update the web site.

Also, it's time to update our Elk Forest directory so please review your information (phone, email, etc.) so that it can be updated. Please submit to one of the officers or board members.

The meeting was adjourned. Our community thanks the Sernyak family for hosting Y2004 meeting.

Respectfully Submitted by, Tim Poludniak, Secretary
